The RAMM feature you have always (probably) wanted is nearly here

A longtime wishlist item for many RAMM user's is coming soon, through a new feature being launched by thinkproject.

It is called Table Manager.

The Table Manager app could well be a bit of a game changer for standard tables in your RAMM database.

  • Do you have standard RAMM tables which have never been used for the network? Do you want these unnecessary tables hidden from all users? Hello Table Manager!

  • Does one of the standard RAMM tables meet 99% of your data requirements... but you really wished it had a few extra columns for additional information? Hello Table Manager!

Table Manager will be to standard RAMM tables, as what UDT Manager is to creating custom user defined tables.

Let's take a closer look…

Hiding standard RAMM tables

Through the Table Manager app, you can now disable tables that you no longer want to be appear in RAMM.

When 'removing' a table, it will archive all data within that table. It will then be possible to restore that archived data at a later date.

It also appears the Table Manager app will identify and remove associated lookup tables as well. You would assume this will be limited to removing only those lookups that are unique to the parent table.

Adding custom fields to standard RAMM tables

Sometimes you need to capture an additional coloumn or two in a standard table. For example, perhaps you want to track the warranty end date for a new asset?

Through the Table Manager app, you will now be able to add new columns to your existing standard tables. This will let you manage custom information that you need, right along side the typical off-the-shelf columns.

The one caveat (for obvious good reasons mind you) is that you can't go and delete the core columns from these standard tables. So you can basically only add new columns on top of what is already there.

Coming to RAMM Beta soon

The new table manager application should be available through RAMM Beta shortly. Click here to find out how to connect to RAMM Beta to check this out when it’s made available.
