No message box buttons to click in RAMM? Try this one simple trick.

Have you been doing work in RAMM Grid, and a message box appears to confirm an action…… but there is no button to press to actually carry on with the job?

Something just like in the screenshot below?

Are you stuck and not sure what to do next?

The issue is you may be using an unsupported web browser.

Faced with a buttonless message box is a very common issue in the RAMM HTML interface when using Apple Safari. Jokes (or is just facts?) about Apple Mac superiority over PC aside, unfortunately Safari is not an officially supported browser for RAMM. That distinction belongs to Google Chrome and Firefox. And although 99.9% of the time things work as expected in Safari, this is one issue that does rear its head.

It can make performing some simple actions a rather frustrating experience.

An example of where this can occur; in the image below I am trying to remove the 'drainage type = culvert' filter. The app presents a message box to confirm the removal of the filter . So far so good .... except there is no Yes button to actually go ahead with removing the filter.

There are also no scroll bars or anything to try and move around within the message box.

Did you know the buttons are actually there - they just happen to be hidden off screen? Well the good news is there is a very simple trick to get around this issue.

When you get a message box like this with not buttons, simply press the tab key on your keyboard. This will pan the message box over, revealing the available buttons to press.

A simple trick to allow you to get on with the important tasks that you are working on.

So if you are using an unofficial browser, try this out next time you have this message box issue happen to you.
